Baby Loading…

The next time you see a pregnant woman, tell her she’s beautiful. “You’re getting so big” is only considered a compliment until age 6.

The waiting game has begun folks! T minus two weeks (or less… or more…). The test of patience is happening live. The ticking time bomb is active. And the thought of your world forever changing is lingering more and more prominently in the air.

Distractions are good, but temporary. Feeling weightless in the pool is my new best friend. And reminding myself that resting is not idleness, it’s a gift, is on repeat in my head. These are the days of the waiting game…

At this stage in pregnancy, the waiting seems like f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Luckily it is winter. Hibernation season. And sitting on the couch waiting feels just right. In fact, I want to remember this feeling of anticipation and excitement. Hope and promise. I’ve never done this before and might never again.

When my husband and I got married, our theme was “I love you today.” The invitation said “Join us in the moment…” because it’s important to enjoy “the now” as tomorrow is unknown. Currently working on that idealism…

If you google, “the waiting game” you’ll get a mix of things like educational tools via Sesame Street videos or amazing acoustic music with lyrics to match. It’s comforting to know that the waiting game is still a prominent life element. In the age of instant gratification, the concept of waiting does seem somewhat nostalgic. So, I’ll take it. I’ll embrace it. And baby loading is now the waiting game that’s worth every minute…
